Who is not Pilgrim’s neighbor? Who is not our sister and our brother? For generations Pilgrim congregation has acted on its deeply-held conviction that we are all beloved children of God. We ask ourselves, “Who could worship a God of abundance and not share blessings?”

Living in God’s vision for us, homelessness and poverty are of special concern.

  • Working with organizations such as West Suburban PADS and Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, Pilgrim volunteers staff overnight stays and serve meals in local shelters. In fact, Pilgrim is currently sponsoring a family of three as they transition from shelter living to independent living.
  • Our Benevolence Budget supports Oak Park Food Pantry, Sarah’s Inn, Fraternite’ Notre Dame and a number of other local service providers.
  • Oak Park’s annual CROP Walk Against Hunger begins and ends at Pilgrim.
  • Pilgrim volunteers work at Habitat for Humanity sites around the world.

Someone once said, “I’d rather see a sermon than hear one.” At Pilgrim, we feel called to be that sermon, that good news to all.

Donuts at the Farmer's Market

If, like many Oak Parkers, you have ever attended the Farmer's Market, you may know us as "the donut church." The Farmer's Market moved to our parking lot over 30 years ago, and since then, Pilgrim, in partnership with more than a dozen local non-profit organizations, has made donuts and served coffee every Saturday from late May through October.

This donut ministry has helped both the church and the greater Oak Park community over the years. We share the revenue with our partners and provide an opportunity for multiple groups to share information about their work with the larger community.
