Our Neighbors Our Neighbors

Who is not Pilgrim’s neighbor? Who is not our sister and our brother? For generations Pilgrim congregation has acted on its deeply-held conviction that we are all beloved children of God. We ask ourselves, “Who could worship a God of abundance and not share blessings?”

Living in God’s vision for us, homelessness and poverty are of special concern.

  • Working with organizations such as West Suburban PADS and Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, Pilgrim volunteers staff overnight stays and serve meals in local shelters. In fact, Pilgrim is currently sponsoring a family of three as they transition from shelter living to independent living.
  • Our Benevolence Budget supports Oak Park Food Pantry, Sarah’s Inn, Fraternite’ Notre Dame and a number of other local service providers.
  • Oak Park’s annual CROP Walk Against Hunger begins and ends at Pilgrim.
  • Pilgrim volunteers work at Habitat for Humanity sites around the world.

Someone once said, “I’d rather see a sermon than hear one.” At Pilgrim, we feel called to be that sermon, that good news to all.
